Below provides the basic approach to the admissions process at SUST. The University's policy is to set out the information on key matters about recruitment for all interested parties. Equal consideration will be given for all applicants. Applicants are chosen on the basis of merit and fairness.

Step 1: In June of their third year of high school, students should participate in the National College Entrance Exam (NCEE). The NCEE is part of a nation-wide college enrollment system that is set up by the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is a two-day exam covering two main categories, namely science and arts.

Step 2: After the exam, participants return to school to calibrate their answers . The standard answer keys are available, and, with the test answer sheet copies, students estimate their total scores.

Then students should fill out a standard university application form . Students can choose the university they like within the category of their predicted score.

Before the results come out, students prepare for their high school graduation. Also at this time, students take official photos and make individual archives.

Step 3: About two weeks later, the official NCEE scores are announced. If the predicted mark is within the grade cut-off point, students will be admitted to their selected university.

Step 4: Anyone who has applied and been accepted to SUST will receive an admission letter with basic information and the School's brochure in late July. The SUST Admission Plan varies every year. In 2010, the School admitted a total of 5,340 students from 30 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

Step 5: In China , universities are put into several different levels in connection with NCEE scores. SUST is a first-tier university and students that are admitted to SUST may be very excited.

Step 6: Before students move to campus, they have to prepare many things from their personal belongings to the tuitions fees . At the beginning of school every year, SUST sends student groups and school buses to the train station to pick up freshmen.
